Hank and Jake - 1993

I've been really interested in the Jabberwocky incident in 1994, when Jake (Uncle Jake) opening the barrier led to the death of his father, Basil. How Hank (Henry Grimm) and Jake were so carefree and happy beforehand, and how damaged they were afterwards. Hank went on to despise the family business and keep his daughters as far from it as he could. Jake went on to travel the globe with the same sense of wonder he'd always had, but with a dangerous greed for magic, lusting for the power it could bring him and the chance to bring his father back from the grave.

Anyway, I think Hank and Jake's history is fascinating, so I wanted to draw this. I wanted to examine the dynamic between the brothers before the Jabberwocky incident, so this is set in 1993, when Hank was 17, and Jake was 16. And how could I pass up the opportunity to give them some dorky 90's haircuts? 

As a side note, I'm making an educated guess that Jake's trench coat wasn't always covered in pockets, and that he only started patching them on once he started collecting magical and enchanted items, during his travels post 1994. So, behold: Jake's trench coat without pockets!

Hank is on the left, Jake is on the right, just in case that isn't as clear as I think it is.
